Frequently Asked Questions

We believe in complete transparency. Here are honest answers to the questions families ask most.

Cost & Payment

12 questions
Our comprehensive neurodevelopmental evaluations are $2,997. Focused evaluations for one primary diagnostic question are $1,997. You pay a $500 deposit when scheduling your intake appointment, and the remaining balance ($2,497 for comprehensive; $1,497 for focused) is due at your feedback session. We offer payment plans for the remaining balance. We're happy to discuss cost and payment options during your free consultation or intake appointment!
We work with insurance, but not as an in-network provider. Here's how it works: You pay at time of service, and we provide detailed documentation (superbill) for you to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Many families receive $600–$1,800 back from their insurance, though coverage varies significantly by plan and is not guaranteed. This approach allows us to provide comprehensive evaluations without insurance company restrictions on time or assessment methods. To check your benefits: Call your insurance company and ask about out-of-network coverage for psychological testing (CPT codes 90791, 96130, 96131, 96136, 96137).
Everything! The cost includes: • Comprehensive parent/caregiver interview (intake appointment) • Testing session(s) with your child (2–6 hours, depending on evaluation type) • Scoring and interpretation of all measures • Detailed written report (15–25 pages for comprehensive; 8–12 pages for focused) • Feedback session to review results (60–90 minutes) • All insurance documentation (superbill) • 30-minute follow-up consultation within 30 days • Coordination with schools or other providers as needed There are no hidden fees or surprise charges.
No! You only need $500 to get started. This deposit secures your spot on the calendar. The remaining balance ($2,497 for comprehensive; $1,497 for focused) is due at your testing session, and we can arrange payment plans for that remaining balance if needed.
After your $500 deposit, you can split the remaining balance into 2–3 payments: • Comprehensive ($2,997 total): $500 deposit + remaining balance in payments — one due at the testing session and the second due at the feedback session • Focused ($1,997 total): $500 deposit + remaining balance in payments — one due at the testing session and the second due at the feedback session CareCredit financing with 6-month and 12-month options is also available. We'll work with you to create a plan that fits your budget!
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express), debit cards, cash, CareCredit, and HSA/FSA cards. Payment plans after the deposit can be set up through automatic charges to your card. Please note that a credit card, debit card, or HSA/FSA card is required to book your intake appointment, and that card will be charged for your intake deposit ($500) at booking.
CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that allows you to pay for medical expenses over time. You can apply online, get an instant approval decision, and use it to pay for your evaluation. For specific questions about rates, terms, or eligibility, visit carecredit.com or call them at 1-800-677-0718.
Yes! The intake appointment deposit is fully refundable if you cancel 48+ hours before your scheduled intake appointment. This gives us time to offer the spot to another family. • 48+ hours notice: Reschedule at no charge, or receive a full $500 refund • Less than 48 hours notice: A $250 late cancellation fee is retained; the remaining $250 is refunded • No-show without notification: The full $500 deposit is forfeited If you wish to reschedule after a late cancellation or no-show, a new $500 deposit will be required.
Insurance reimbursement is not guaranteed and varies significantly by plan. Many families with out-of-network benefits receive 50–80% reimbursement, though some receive less or none at all. Before booking, we strongly recommend: 1. Call your insurance to verify out-of-network mental health/psychological testing benefits 2. Ask specifically about CPT codes 96130, 96131, 96136, 96137, and 90791 3. Understand your deductible and out-of-network limits 4. Plan your budget assuming you may not receive reimbursement You are responsible for payment in full regardless of what your insurance decides to reimburse.
You can submit to insurance after you receive your final report and superbill, which we provide within 48 hours of your feedback session. Most insurance companies have online portals where you can simply upload the superbill — the process typically takes 10–15 minutes. We're happy to walk you through it if you need help!
If your insurance approves reimbursement, it typically takes 4–8 weeks from submission. However, some insurance companies are faster and some slower. Some claims get denied and require appeals, and some need additional documentation. The timeline varies significantly by insurance company.
Actually, no! Twin Cities providers typically charge $3,500–$4,900 for comprehensive evaluations. We charge $2,997, which is 15–40% less. Plus, you save money on gas, time off work, and childcare for multiple trips to the metro area.

The Evaluation Process

4 questions
Typical timeline: 4–8 weeks from initial contact to completed evaluation. The process: • Initial consultation (by phone/email to discuss concerns) • Schedule intake appointment (usually available within 1–2 weeks) • Testing day (scheduled 1–3 weeks after intake) • Feedback session (1–2 weeks after testing) • Written report provided at feedback • Follow-up consultation (within 30 days) This is much faster than Twin Cities providers who often have 6–12 month wait times!
Here's how we compare: Twin Cities: $3,500–$4,900 cost, 6–12 month wait, multiple trips (1–2 hours each way), time off work and childcare needed, extra costs for gas, parking, and food, unfamiliar with your community and schools. Clarity Assessments: $1,997–$2,997 cost, 4–8 week wait, local to Mankato, minimal disruption to your schedule, no extra travel costs, familiar with Southern Minnesota schools and resources. Total savings (cost + time + travel): Often $1,000–$2,500+. Even without insurance reimbursement, you're saving money compared to metro options!
Both evaluations include: • Initial intake consultation (1–2 hours with parents depending on type) • Testing session(s) (2–6 hours depending on type) • Gold-standard assessment tools (ADOS-2, WISC-V, and more) • Complete analysis and interpretation • Detailed written report (12–15+ pages typically) • Extended feedback session to review findings • Specific recommendations for home and school • Follow-up consultation (within 30 days) • School communication as needed No hidden fees. No surprise charges. Everything is included.
This is a common concern, and I'm experienced in working with children who feel nervous or resistant. Here's how I handle it: • I go at your child's pace — we take breaks whenever needed • Testing feels more like activities or games than a formal "test" • I build rapport first, so your child feels comfortable with me • For younger children, we incorporate play and movement • I watch for signs of fatigue or stress and adjust accordingly Most children actually enjoy the one-on-one attention and variety of activities! If your child has significant anxiety, let me know during our initial consultation. We can discuss strategies to prepare them and make accommodations during testing.

Choosing the Right Evaluation

2 questions
A Focused Evaluation ($1,997) is right when: • You have one clear primary concern (ADHD, autism, learning, or early childhood development) • You want in-depth assessment of that specific area • School or pediatrician identified a specific concern A Comprehensive Evaluation ($2,997) is right when: • Your child's concerns span multiple areas • The presentation is complex and doesn't fit one category • You want the complete picture across all areas of development • Multiple people have different concerns Not sure? Contact us and we'll figure it out together based on your child's needs.
School evaluations and private evaluations serve different purposes — both have value! School Evaluations: • Focus on educational impact and eligibility for special education services • Designed to answer: "Does this child need school-based support?" • May be more limited in scope • Free, but often have long waitlists • Results are tied to school services and IEP eligibility Private Evaluations (like ours): • Provide comprehensive understanding of your child's complete profile • Designed to answer: "How does my child's brain work, and how can we help?" • Include clinical diagnoses (autism, ADHD, etc.) • Useful for medical providers, private therapists, and treatment planning • You own the results and can use them anywhere • More detailed recommendations beyond school setting Many families do both: Private evaluation first to get comprehensive answers and diagnosis, then share results with school to inform their evaluation and IEP planning. Bottom line: School evaluations are valuable for accessing school services. Private evaluations give you a complete picture and diagnostic clarity for all settings — school, home, therapy, and medical care.

Results & Outcomes

3 questions
Our evaluations provide comprehensive assessment and clinical impressions based on testing results, observations, and diagnostic criteria. However, we cannot guarantee a specific diagnosis will be reached. When a diagnosis is clear from the assessment data, we'll provide it along with detailed explanation and recommendations. When results are mixed or inconclusive, we'll explain what the testing shows, discuss possible explanations, and recommend next steps. What you'll always receive regardless of diagnostic outcome: • Clear explanation of your child's strengths and challenges • Understanding of how your child learns and functions • Specific recommendations for support at home and school • Guidance on next steps The goal is always clarity about your child's needs — whether or not that includes a formal diagnosis.
Yes, Dr. Wolf is qualified to provide diagnostic impressions for autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental conditions based on comprehensive evaluation. It's important to understand that a single evaluation provides a snapshot of your child at a specific point in time. While we use gold-standard assessment tools and evidence-based practices, diagnoses can evolve as children develop. Our evaluation will provide: • Clear diagnostic impressions based on current presentation • Detailed explanation of findings • Practical recommendations regardless of diagnosis • Guidance on next steps and interventions
Your evaluation doesn't end when you receive the report. Here's what happens next: Immediate Next Steps: • A 1–2 hour feedback session where we review everything together • All your questions answered with findings explained in practical terms • Discussion of specific recommendations and how to implement them • Written report provided within 24 hours of feedback session Within 30 Days: • A complimentary 30-minute follow-up consultation is included • Ask additional questions as you digest the information • Discuss how interventions are going or troubleshoot challenges Ongoing Support: • Available for school meetings or IEP support (additional fee) • Reach out via email with questions • Letters or documentation for schools/therapists as needed • Follow-up evaluations available as your child grows Resources & Referrals: • Referrals to therapists, tutors, and specialists as appropriate • Local and online resources specific to your child's needs • Parent support group connections when relevant You're not getting a report and left to figure it out alone — we're here to support your family's journey.
